June Evelyn Brandt

June Evelyn Brandt, 93, of Monett, MO, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 peacefully at home surrounded by her family. She was born February 26, 1930 in Exeter, MO, the first of five children born to Joe and Ethel Warren.

June is survived by two sons, Joey Brandt (Daphne) of Monett and Jeff Brandt of Springdale, AR; one brother, Cherry Warren (Ann) of Purdy; two sisters, Bonnie Lambeth (Jack) of Cassville and Virginia Terry (Roger) of Monett and sister-in-law, Barbara Warren. Also surviving are three grandchildren; Ashley Rivera (Jorge), Andy Brandt (Caseye), and Todd Brandt; and eight great-grandchildren, Haylee, Kally, Aiden, Kyler, Liam, Landyn, Peyton and Hattie, all of Monett; two nieces, Sally Gilbert (Tony) of Mountain Home, AR, Jill Braden (Jeff) of Monett and two nephews, Kerry Brooks (Sherri) and Kirby Brooks, both of Cassville. Also surviving are several great-nieces and nephews.

June was preceded in death by her husband Jack; one brother, Charles Warren; one nephew, David Terry; and one niece, Shelly Sachs.

June grew up in the country and attended Hazeldale School as a youngster and graduated from Exeter High School in 1947. She gave her life to Jesus Christ as a young girl and served him faithfully until her passing.

In 1948, June Warren was united in marriage to Jack Brandt in Purdy, MO with the Rev. Abb Bennett officiating.

She started her working career at Vaisey Bristol shoe factory for nine years. In 1959, along with Jack, they opened and operated the Dari-Craft Café for twenty-five years. She could and would do anything that needed to be done at the café. Her specialty was making eight or more homemade pies everyday Monday through Friday. In 1980, she left the restaurant world behind and started to work at the Monett Head Start School as a nutritional assistant. She remained there because she loved being around children and did not retire until 1995. Not the type to sit idle, she went back to work in 1996 at the area State School as a bus monitor. She retired for the last time eight years later in 2003.

June enjoyed life and had lots of activities such as playing cards with friends and family, especially “Pitch”, getting together with friends for some good visiting, and growing her own tomatoes. She enjoyed watching her boys play ball when they were young and later in life, nothing was better than watching the grandkids and great-grandkids play ball, dance, sing, or whatever activities they were involved in.

She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan, watching most games on T.V. every time the Cardinals took to the diamond. Later in life, a two-hour car ride around the countryside and down by the “home place” was special. Her greatest enjoyment came from being with her family. She was always ready to go to family reunions, birthday parties, weddings, or to just “go visiting” the family.

And most importantly of all was Sunday. June loved going to Sunday School and church. Until she physically could not go, she rarely missed. She was proud to be a member of New Site Baptist Church.

June was a devoted wife, mother, “Granny”, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be forever missed here on Earth but her genuine love for all of us will be with us always.

Graveside services for Mrs. Brandt were held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 24, 2023 at Oakdale Cemetery, Monett. Reverend Aaron Weibel officiated. The family received friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on Sunday evening at the funeral home. Memorial contributions have been suggested to the Shelly Sachs Foundation or New Site Baptist Church in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, MO.
