Mother’s Day Tea on Saturday

The Barry County Genealogical and Historical Society will host a Mother’s Day Tea at the Bayless-Salyer House, located at 9th and Townsend streets, on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This come-and-go event features a variety of teas and coffee, as well as a selection of savory and sweet treats. Visitors may also tour the late-1800s home. A $10 donation is suggested, and proceeds will go toward upkeep of the house.

Walk for Mental Health on May 18

Senior Life Solutions and Cassville Mercy Hospital will host a Walk for Mental Health on May 18 at 2 p.m. at the hospital. The event celebrates Mental Health Awareness Month, and people may learn more about mental health and how to break the stigmas surrounding it. Alumni Association hosting banquet

The Cassville Alumni Association invites all CHS Alumni to join fellow Wildcat alumni for a banquet on May 27 at the Cassville High School Commons Area. Doors will open at 5 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6 p.m.. The cost is $15 per person, and payment will be collected at the door. If a class is planning a reunion in conjunction with the banquet, please call the school office at 417-847-2221 and let Dayna know how many tables the class will need for the event. City-wide yard sales scheduled

The cities of Exeter and Wheaton have scheduled their city-wide yard sales. Exeter’s will be Friday and Saturday, and Wheaton’s will be May 20. Maps of the Wheaton sales will be available from May 17-20 at Wheaton City Hall, TMart, Wheaton Family Market and Wheaton Fastrip.

Cassville Branch Library activities scheduled

Activities at the Cassville Branch Library this week include: Thursday, Toastmasters at 6 p.m.; Friday, Chair Yoga/QiGong at 9 a.m.; Saturday, Teen Anime Club, registration required; Monday, Chair Yoga/QiGong at 9 a.m., Cassville Area Friends of the Library meeting at 6 p.m.; Tuesday, Trivia at 1:30 p.m.; May 17, Chair Yoga/QiGong at 9 a.m.

Purdy Cemetery Association meeting coming

The Purdy Cemetery Association will host a meeting at 10 a.m. on May 20 at The Gathering Place, located at Highway C and Business 37 in Purdy. Regular business will be discussed. All interested individuals are invited and encouraged to attend.

Old Church Gallery Farmers’ Market open

The Old Church Gallery Farmers’ Market runs every Thursday from 8-11 a.m. The Market offers fresh produce, eggs, jellies, relishes, baked goods, cut flowers, handmade crafts and more. The selection varies every week, so come early for the best choice. Old Church Gallery is located on Farm Road 1240 in Shell Knob and can be reached at 417-858-2510.

Cassville water system report now available

The City of Cassville’s water quality report for the year 2022 is now available online at www.dnr.mo.gov/ccr/mo5010144.pdf. The document, also called a Consumer Confidence Report, provides important information about the City’s efforts to provide safe drinking water. Residents can find detailed information about where their drinking water comes from as well as what trace elements (contaminants) have been detected. Residents can call City Hall at 417-8474441 to obtain a printed copy of the report or to obtain more information on the municipal water system.

Softball game benefitting Wheaton boy

A benefit softball game will be held at the Wheaton ballfields on June 24 at noon. Funds raised will benefit Garrett Roller, 12, of Wheaton, who broke both bones in his leg in a UTV accident in October. Since having his cast off in November, Roller has experienced many complications, resulting in four major surgeries on his leg. He is currently receiving care at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City to treat a bone infection, correct the deformity and hopefully allow the bone to fuse together. Roller is an outdoor-lover, enjoying fishing, gardening and anything to do with farm animals. The cost to enter a team is $250, and there is a $10 cost per entry in the home run derby. The registration deadline is June 19, and people may register by calling the city of Wheaton at 417-652-3314. There will be plated of barbecue chicken and sides for $5 each. Inaugural Cars & Pizza May 27

The Inaugural Cars & Pizza Cruise-In will be held May 27 from 1-3 p.m. at the parking lot of Roaring River Health and Rehab, located at 812 Old Exeter Road in Cassville. Registration is free, and the event is free to the public. A $5 meal deal will be available, and donations are welcome. All donations will go toward helping Health and Rehab residents compete in the Golden Age games.

OATS rides available in Barry County

OATS Transit offers regular transportation services for the rural general public of any age, seniors, and individuals with disabilities. Please call the local OATS Transit office at 417-887-9272 or 800-770-6287 to schedule a ride or find out about services in the Barry County area. People may also visit the OATS website at oatstransit.org to view local schedules under “Bus Schedules,” then click on the county of service. OATS offices will be closed, and regular routes will not be running on Feb. 20 for Presidents’ Day. Please keep this in mind as trips are scheduled near these holidays. OATS Transit is hiring drivers statewide to can continue serving riders. Openings are listed on the OATS website.

Seligman dances ongoing each Saturday

The Seligman Chamber of Commerce country dances at the Seligman Chamber Event Center are every Saturday from 7-10 p.m. No alcohol is allowed. Admission is $10 per person, and 18-and-under are free. There is a potluck, 50-50 drawing and door prizes. For more information, people may call 417-662-3612.
