Sept. 12, 1972 The Norris Crouch Locker plant in northeast Barry County, owned and operated by Mr. and Mrs. Norris Crouch, was completely destroyed by fire over the weekend. Firefighters from Monett and Aurora battled the blaze, but were unable to contain the fire in the rural area. Crouch said the loss to the locker plant and slaughter house was at least partly covered by insurance.

Willis Insurance of Cassville purchased a warehouse structure just off the public square on East Seventh Street from Fred Meador. The lot size of the location is 46 by 62 and plans from the site were under development.

Sept. 8, 1982 Recreation areas of Roaring River State Park and Table Rock Lake in Barry County hosted thousands of guests over the last summer holiday of Labor Day. Expected to be the largest visitation period of the summer, the three-day outing didn’t disappoint. Roaring River, while falling slightly behind for the year in some departments was over existing visitor records in others.

Norris J. Crouch of Crouch’s Locker and Processing, Verona, has been elected president of the American Association of Meat Processors. Crouch’s election was announced by Stephen F. Krut, AAMP executive director, at the closing session of the Association’s 43rd convention held in Denver, Colo.

Sept. 2, 1992 Serving the Cassville and Shell Knob area, the radio station KRLK went on the air. Owner Kevin Wodlinger said the facility would be a sister-station to Monett Broadcasting with offices located in Cassville and the transmitter site located five miles southeast of Cassville at the Pete Tucker farm.

Joy Chappell, a Cassville real estate broker, opened her own offices, Flat Creek Realty, in connection with a quick lobe and used auto sales operation on South Main in Cassville.
