June 21, 1972

A search for a missing housewife, Mrs. Christine Seal, 22 of Verona, formerly of Cassville, was called off Monday night, but would be resumed on Tuesday, according to Lawrence County officers. Mrs. Seal disappeared from her home between 8 and 9:45 a.m. on Monday, according to her husband, Lynn Seal. She apparently left her two and a half year old son, her purse, shoes and all of her clothing behind, according to authorities.

Mike Keen has joined the sales staff at Hailey Tractor and Implement Co., in Cassville, according to Bill Hailey, owner.

Locally assessed property in Barry County has a value of $25,886,528, according to preliminary figures from Barry County Assessor Glen Nicoll.

Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Rima, of Shell Knob, will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception on Sunday at the home of their son, Nelson, in Shell Knob.

Country and western singer and Nashville star, Don Gibson, will be entertaining those attending the Rotary Rodeo this Saturday night.

June 16, 1982

Commerce Bank of Cassville has named Bert “Chip” Lawson, Jr., a native of Exeter, as its new controller. He will be replacing Patti Fisher, who recently resigned to accept a similar post in Dallas, Texas.

Russell A. Wright, son of Mr. and Mrs. Buck James of Shell Knob, has completed his basic training at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas. He will be stationed in South Dakota upon completion of his course.

Miss Willie Jewell Cox, a military personnel management specialist with the Naval Military Personnel Command in Washington, D.C., was recently honored with a reception for her 40 years of service upon her retirement. The Cassville native began her career in 1942.

Owners of the Hillbilly Ice Cream Sandwich Shop on the south side of the square in Cassville are Mr. and Mrs. Carless Conner, who recently purchased the business from Mr. and Mrs. Bob Vaughn.

June 3, 1992

Mindi Gripka, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rob Gripka of Cassville, has been selected as a finalist in the Miss Pre-Teen Missouri Scholarship and Recognition Pageant to be held in Columbia on July 3-5.

Diana Cardin has been selected to attend the National Young Leaders Conference June 16-21 in Washington, D.C. The CHS senior next year will be among 350 high school students from across the nation at the conference. She is the daughter of Tom and Kay Cardin of Cassville.

Willie Jewell Cox, of Silver Springs, Md., formerly of Cassville, passed away June 4 at her home. Graveside service was held at Corinth Cemetery, Cassville.

Scott Spencer, vice president of Commerce Bank in Cassville will be leaving his position here to accept a similar position with the Commerce Bank of Poplar Bluff. Mrs. Spencer is a CHS speech teacher.
