Bradley Bos, left, and Sherry Lingenfelter hosted a pop-up food drive in the Westco parking lot in Monett on Oct. 26. Bos, who is running for Missouri House District 157 on the Democratic ticket, said the food collected will go to Crosslines and others in need. "A lot of people will be facing substantial food insecurity in the coming month with the loss of SNAP benefits in November," Bos said. "I felt like somebody needed to step up, so some friends and I are organizing food drives like this in an attempt to alleviate some of the hardship." Lingenfelter knows many people who will be impacted by the loss of food benefits, including her disabled sister. Bos says his spirits were raised by people's willingness to contribute and by the amount of groceries they collected during the three-hour food drive. Sheila Harris/Special to the Monett Monthly
