Former Monettans Vikki Branum and Susana Branum, now Kansas City residents, came to Monett’s Repurposed Faire with their mother-daughter business started seven years ago, offering pumpkins repurposed from old sweaters, mini-books composed of scanned old-time photos, and other novelties. Looking over offerings at their booth were, from left, Marissa Cahalan, Rilynn Cahalan, Royer Cahalan, all of Pierce City, and Rhonda Bounous, of Monett. Murray Bishoff/Special to Monett Monthly
The Monett Repurposed Faire on Aug. 23-24 filled the Jerry Hall Pavilion in downtown Monett with 46 vendors plus food trucks. A number of vendors made first-time appearances at Monett’s major festival, including Haven of the Ozarks. Staff member Windy Dunfee spent individual time with her charges, including Giffith, a mixed breed, while looking for families willing to adopt. First place went to Oslo, the Golden Retriever, dressed as a lion, with owner Arely Ibarra at left. Lyle, the Aussiedoodle, dressed as a Kansas City Chiefs fan, with owner Sarah Moudy, with still a winner in the eyes of onlookers. The two dogs wagged their tails enthusiastically and touched noses repeatedly when they met. The Monett Kiwanis Club sold cups of flavored ice, as Millie Tudor, part of the Tutties Fruities crew from Pierce City, ordered hers from Becky Head and Rod Anderson.
