Wild Game Feed classes in September

The Southwest Missouri Wild Game Feed will host a hunter education skills class from 1-5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13, at the Tom Wolfe Memorial VFW Post, located at 5400 Hwy. 60, west of Monett. The Missouri Hunter Education skills session is the second part of the hunter education certification process after completing one of the knowledge-based options. Students must be at least 11 years old to attend. Andrew Rhodes will be the instructor. Online registration is available. For more information, people can call the Post at 417-235-8394. 

Circus in town Sept. 13

The Culpepper & Merriweather Circus will set up in Monett on Sept. 13 at Monett South Park, with showtimes at 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Tickets may be purchased in-person at a discounted price of $13 for adults and $8 for children and seniors at First State Bank (Monett, Pierce City and Purdy locations), the Monett Area YMCA, the VB Hall Antique Mall, or online at https://cm-circus.square.site. Online tickets are $13.75 for adults and $8.75 for children and seniors. Advance tickets are available until 10 p.m. Sept. 12, or until sold out. Box office tickets are $16 for adults and $9 for children 2-12 and seniors 65-and-older. Advance tickets give a larger portion to the sponsor, Kiwanis Club of Monett. A tent-raising is open to the public at 9:30 a.m., and a free tour of the grounds will be given. The midway opens at 1 p.m. with a full concession stand, pony rides, face painting and inflatables. The 90-minute show features big cats, tight rope walking, aerialists, fire eating, foot juggling, daredevils and more. More information can be found at www.cmcircus.com.

Hunt for a Cause on Sept. 13

The Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks will host Hunt for a Cause on Sept. 13, beginning at noon. The scavenger hunt benefits the Foundation. People may form teams of four (five including a driver), to find all the stops in town and complete pictures, small purchases and other activities. Additional children under 18 may participate for free. The hunt will last about four hours, and teams must be back by 4 p.m. to be included in scoring. Blood Drive on Sept. 16 at YMCA

Dickerson Park Zoo and Community Blood Center of the Ozarks (CBCO), the sole supplier of blood, platelets, and plasma to patients at over 40 area healthcare facilities, are partnering to help boost the region’s blood supply for local patients. Stick out a paw and donate blood at the upcoming blood drive at the Monett Area YMCA, located at 115 S. Lincoln Ave., on Sept. 16 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.. For every donor, CBCO will donate $10 to the Monett Area YMCA. Successful donors will receive a voucher for two free general admissions to the Dickerson Park Zoo, valued at $38. Zoo admission vouchers are valid through July 31, 2026. No other discounts or coupons apply. Donors will also receive a limited-edition zoo themed T-shirt, while supplies last. Community Blood Center of the Ozarks donors provide all the blood for patients at Cox Monett Hospital, Mercy Hospital Cassville, Mercy Hospital Aurora, as well as dozens of healthcare facilities across the Ozarks.

Community Live Wellness Screening Sept. 20

Cox Monett Hospital invites the entire community to come together for a morning of better health and family fun at this year’s Community Live Well Screening. The event will take place on Sept. 20 from 7 a.m. to noon in the lobby and parking lot of the CoxHealth Monett Clinic, located at 1000 E. Hwy. 60 in Monett. “We are excited to welcome families back for this year’s event,” says Kallie Provost, RN, screening coordinator. “Our goal is to make it easier than ever for the entire family to take charge of their health together. We want this to be a morning that helps everyone feel cared for, connected, and supported.” Reduced cost health screenings ($45) include: Complete blood count, comprehensive metabolic panel, full lipid profile (cholesterol, LDL, HDL, triglycerides), Hgb A1C (blood glucose), TSH (thyroid). Also available for $15 is PSA test (prostate cancer) for men. Please fast for 12 hours prior to the blood draw. Tests are performed on a walk-in basis and are self-pay. Only cash or checks will be accepted. Pierce City Fall Festival on Sept. 27

The Pierce City Fall Festival will be held on Sept. 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Pierce City South Park, located at 100 South Elm in Pierce City. The event features artists and crafters, a farmers’ market, 417 Bounce, food trucks, live music, children’s activities, plein air painting and a beer and wine garden. Monett High School 50th Class Reunion in October

The Monett High School Class of 1975 will host its 50th Class Reunion on Oct. 3. There will be a tour of Monett High School at 2 p.m., parade on Broadway at 4 p.m., Homecoming football game at 5 p.m., and an after party at Ruby Hartman’s at 1307 Hemingway Dr. in Monett at 9 p.m. A catered meal will also be available at 2 p.m. on Oct. 4 at the Monett Historical Society and Museum, located at 422 E. Broadway. Attire is casual, and the cost is $40 per person and $80 per couple. Other events may be included.
