Cubs track and field season ends in sectional

The Monett boys and girls track and field athletes all saw their seasons end at the Class 4, Sectional 3 in Waynesville on May 24. Results included:

5th place

Alex Meeks, pole vault, 4.11m

Morgan Wright, javelin, 37.92m

6th place

Peyton Brandt, high jump, 1.45m

Ruby Smith, 300-meter hurdles, 50.22

Victor Salas, 3200-meter run, 10:18.17

7th place

Vayla Smith, 400m, 1:00.84

All athletes took fourth place in their respective events at the Class 4, District  meet at Carl Junction except Brandt, who was runner-up.

Cubs end season with loss to Aurora

The Monett baseball team (11-12) finished its season in the Class 4, District 11 Tournament in Monett with a 7-3 loss to Aurora on May 20. Throughout May, Monett went 3-4. Wins were over Forsyth, 6-1; Clever, 5-2; and New Covenant Academy, 10-0. Losses were to Mt. Vernon, 4-2; Logan-Rogersville, 12-2; Lamar, 14-2; and Aurora in districts.

Lady Cubs end year at 6-13

The Monett girls soccer team finished its season at 6-13 with a loss to Logan-Rogersville, 8-0, in the Class 2, District 5 Tournament. In May, the Lady Cubs managed wins over Fair Grove, 5-2, and Aurora, 4-1. Monett also defeated Cassville twice this season, 1-0 on April 1 and 3-0 on April 22.

Monett tennis team falls in district semi

The Monett boys tennis team reached the Class 1, District 6 semifinals in Bolivar before its season came to a halt with a 5-1 loss to Forsyth. No individual players or doubles teams advanced past district play.
