Drury Leadership Summit slated for Nov. 13
For the 14th year, Drury University in Monett will host its annual Leadership Summit on Thursday, Nov. 13, at the Monett City Park Casino at the city’s South Park.

Pop-up food drive held in Monett Sunday
Bradley Bos, left, and Sherry Lingenfelter hosted a pop-up food drive in the Westco parking lot in Monett on Oct. 26. Bos, who is running for Missouri House District 157 on the Democratic ticket, said the food collected will go to Crosslines and others in need. “A lot of people will be facing substantial food insecurity in the coming month with the loss of SNAP benefits in November,” Bos said. “I felt like somebody needed to step up, so some friends and I are organizing food drives like this in an attempt to alleviate some of the hardship.” Lingenfelter knows many people who will be impacted by the loss of food benefits, including her disabled sister.

Hunt for a Cause a hit in Monett
The Monett Fire Department’s Hunt for a Cause benefit fundraiser for the Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks raised at least $7,000 to help support local efforts fighting breast cancer in a first-of-its-kind event in Monett on Sept. 13.

12 Pioneer Families hold annual reunion
On Sept. 21, the 91st annual reunion of the 12 pioneer families, who came to southwest Missouri and began populating southwest Lawrence County and the Monett area, was held at the Monett City Park Casino.

Circus entertains crowds in Monett
The Culpepper and Merriweather Circus, based in Hugo, Okla., returned to Monett on Sept. 13, continuing an every-other-year tradition.
Ozark Festival Orchestra opens season Oct. 12
The Ozark Festival Orchestra will open its 46th season of concerts in Monett at 3 p.m. on Oct. 12, at the Monett High School Performing Arts Center.
