The Monett city government has opened the Monett City Annex at 100 S. Maple St. for meetings, conferences, and training sessions. The former Monett Community Center, built in the 1970s, has housed the Barry-Lawrence Ambulance District, the Missouri Career Center, and a therapy service over the years. Mayor Randy Burke, right, is pictured describing the main room where Monett City Council sessions will now be held during a VIP tour at the beginning of January. The facility enables the city to move meetings from the school district’s administration center into its own building. City Hall conference rooms, holding approximately 35 people at capacity, have proven inadequate for larger gatherings. In addition to Planning and Zoning Commission meetings, the facility has several rooms for different sized sessions and a media room for photos against a decorated background.
