100+ Women third quarter meeting on Thursday

The 100+Women of Barry and Lawrence Counties will meet on Nov. 6 from 6-8 p.m. at the Barry-Lawrence Regional Library, located at 2200 Park St. in Monett. Social hour is from 6-7 p.m., and at 7 p.m., voting members (those who donate $100 or more) can nominate a charity from Barry or Lawrence counties to receive fourth-quarter meeting funds. Bingo on Saturday at Monett YMCA

SWMO Wild Game Feed will host a bingo night on Nov. 8 at 6 p.m. There will be 10 game splayed, and the price is $50 for three chances in each game. Additional packs may be purchased for $25. Winners will get a choice of item off the Wall Of Fun, YETI cooler, four-person fishing trip with High Water Guide Service, or $250 cash. This is a family friendly event. There will also be free chili for dinner. Beef, deer and elk will be served from 4:30-5:45 p.m.. Doors open at 4 p.m. Cash, checks, and credit cards will be accepted.

250th Marine Corps Birthday Ceremony on Monday

The VFW Post 4207 Tom Wolfe Memorial, located at 5400 W. Hwy. 60 in Monett, will host a 250th Marine Corps Birthday Ceremony at 6 p.m. on Nov. 10. There will be a cake cutting ceremony, a proud tradition honoring Marines present and past; a bagpipes performance; sandwiches and refreshments. All Marines, active duty or prior service, as well as supporters of the Marines, are encouraged to attend. The event is open to the public.

Blood Drive set for Nov. 11

The Community Blood Center of the Ozarks will host a Monett Community Blood Drive on Nov. 11 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Monett Area YMCA, located at 115 S. Lincoln Ave. All successful donors will be put into a drawing for a chance to win two tickets to the Chiefs vs. Chargers game on Dec. 14, along with a parking pass. The total prize package is worth $585. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are encouraged to minimize potential wait times at the drive. Monett Historical Society to meet

The Monett Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. on Nov. 18 museum’s event center, located at 422 E. Broadway. The Guest speaker is Jeremy P Amick, who will discuss “Liberty’s Wounds,” the Biography of Sgt. Bryce F Lockwood. 

YMCA Turkey Waddle set

The Monett Area YMCA, located at 115 S. Lincoln Ave., will host the Turkey Waddle 5K on Nov. 22 beginning at 8 a.m. People may walk, jog or run, and the event is open to all ages and fitness levels. People may register at: https://tinyurl.com/ctc2c9ha.

Thanksgiving Day Dinner at VFW

The VFW Post 4207 Tom Wolfe Memorial, located at 5400 W. Hwy. 60 in Monett, will host a Thanksgiving Day Dinner on Nov. 27 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a traditional Thanksgiving meal for free (one meal per person). Donations of turkeys, hams, canned goods, desserts or traditional sides would be appreciated, as well as cash donations. In 2024, the VFW fed more than 300 people in the community, plus VFW veterans. To volunteer to prepare or serve food, or to donate, people may call 417-235-8394.
