Schreiber Foods celebrated its 50th anniversary in Monett on April 22 with a company-wide party.

The company, which now owns all of the Mid-American Dairymen plant that opened in 1947 as part of Producers Creamery, now operates plants also in Mt. Vernon, Carthage, and Fairview. T-shirts declaring “50 years of doing good through food” were given to all the employees. Management cooked up a large barbecued steak dinner for all the Monett workers and retirees. Danny Moennig’s macaroni and cheese, which won first place at a festival, was served as well. Raffle prizes were announced during the meal.
Nate Burbridge, plant manager, echoed those sentiments in speaking to employees. He thanked past and present staff for success, making a future celebration possible in another 25 years. Ron Dunford, chief executive officer for Schreiber, flew in from Green Bay, Wisc., to express his satisfaction and support for the efforts in Monett.
Nearly 50 retirees attended the dinner and posed for a group photo afterwards.
