Eugene Lee Jones
Eugene Lee Jones, 82, of rural Exeter, Mo., died on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, while at his home.
Lee, as he was known by those who knew him best, was born on March 18, 1939, in La Junta, Colo., son of the late Eugene and Helen (Hubbard) Jones. Lee graduated from La Junta High School in 1957 and went to studied auto mechanics in Denver. Shortly thereafter, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served his country honorably for six years.
Lee worked for Blalock-Koons Chevrolet before owning and operating Lee’s Auto Service in Ridgley until he retired in 2001. Lee was a faithful member of the Assembly of God for many years, and recently had attended Ozark Christian Church. He enjoyed many years of woodcraft hobbies, giving away many of his creations to family and friends.
In August of 1961, Lee married Sharon Duncan. To this union, two sons were born. Sharon preceded Lee in death. He later married Dorothy Blinzler on July 12, 2014.
Those surviving include: his wife Dorothy, of Exeter; two sons, Kevin Jones, of Ridgley and Mike Jones and wife Annetta, of Diamond; one step-son, Darrell Lamp and wife Debbie, of Springfield; one sister, Earlene Russell, of Denver, Colo.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and special friends, Mike and Angie Engel, of Hutchinson, Kan.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Sharon; and one brother, Ray Jones.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at the Rocky Comfort Cemetery. Pastor Randy Martin will be officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to Ozark Christian Church in care of the funeral home.
