James L. Pilant, 81, of Cassville, passed away Thursday, May 27, 2021, at Lacoba Nursing Home in Monett.

He was born May 11, 1940, in Cassville, the son of Aubrey and Virgie (Edie) Pilant who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were two wives, Wilma J. Riddle and Roberta Pilant; two brothers, Charles and Harold “Bud” and one sister, Sue Casner.

Survivors include: one son, Lance Pilant of Cassville; one daughter, Debra Nickle and her husband Bruce of Cassville, and one brother, Ronnie Pilant and his wife Sheilyn of Lebanon; five grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

He grew up and received his education in Cassville, graduating from Cassville High School. He was a lifetime resident of Barry County and was employed by Blalack-Koon Cheverolet in the body shop for many years and later by Barry Electric Cooperative as a construction foreman, electrician. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, June 1, at Pilant Cemetery in Cassville under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Pastor Milford Baker conducted the services.

A Celebration of Life after the service will be held at Bruce and Debbie Nickle’s home, 10520 McGruder Blvd., Cassville.
