Robert Kent “Bob” Ray
Robert Kent “Bob” Ray, 90, died Thursday, April 8, 2021, at his home in Jenkins.
He was born to Oleah H. Ray and Ethel Nora Teague Ray on May 7, 1930. A lifetime resident of Barry County, he was always busy with his farming operation on what he affectionately called “The Lone Pine Ranch.” He served as Presiding Judge of the Barry County Court from 1972 to 1978 and for many years, worked as an auctioneer and a real estate broker. He was known as an avid hunter and fisherman and an enthusiastic musician.
He is survived by sons, Charles Kent Ray of Overland Park, Kan., and Hon. Robert David Ray and wife Melinda of West Plains, Mo.; three grandchildren, Joshua Ray and wife Becca of Columbia, Mo., Logan Ray of Columbia, Mo., and Emma Porter and husband Ethan of Phoenix, Ariz.; and three great grandchildren, Oleah Ray, Graham Ray, and Isla Porter.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Patricia Ann Ray; son Matthew Scott Ray, and sisters Margaret Jane Meadows and Ruth DeWaine Suttles.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 17, at Leann Church under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Pastor Rick Cooper will conduct the services. No visitation is planned.
