Second round of COVID-19 testing comes to Cassville High School

A second Department of Health and Senior Services community testing event will take place on Saturday at Cassville High School from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. DHSS is partnering with the Missouri National Guard, local health departments, health care providers to offer the event. The test is a PCR test done by a nasopharyngeal swab to determine if there is an active infection with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. This is not an antigen or antibody test. Barry County Democrats meeting set

The Barry County Democrats will meet on Aug. 10 at 7 p.m. The monthly meeting will be at the Golden Community Center in Golden, located at 28686 Hwy. J. Also, the group wants to remind everyone to vote on Aug. 4. For questions, people may contact Maella Blalock at 231-343-2727.

Waste Management District monthly meeting upcoming

The Southwest Missouri Solid Waste Management District N will meet at 11:50 a.m. at the Angus Branch Steakhouse in Monett.

Barry County Camp meeting scheduled

The 131st annual Barry County Camp Meeting will be held July 12-18 at 7 p.m. each evening. Speakers include: Arnold Ray Evans, July 12; Mike Tharp, July 13; Jerry Nickle, July 14; Wyatt Howerton, July 15; Jess Cole, July 16; and Ronnie Howerton, July 17. COVID-19 testing days changing

The Barry County Health Department has announced its COVID-19 (coronavirus) testing days will shift to Thursdays and Fridays during July and August, as the Department’s WIC program is moving to EWIC cards, and back-to-school-shots are being done. Anyone needing a COVID-19 test may contact a physician or utilize telemedicine for a referral to be tested. For testing at the Health Department, people may call 417-847-2114.

Absentee voting ongoing

Absentee voting continues for the Aug. 4 Primary Election through Monday, Aug. 3 at the Barry County Clerk’s Office in Cassville from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. If unable to vote absentee in person, voters may request an absentee ballot to be mailed. People may pick up an absentee ballot request form at the Monett Chamber of Commerce, or send a written request to the office of: Jill H. LeCompte, Barry County Clerk, 700 Main St. Suite 2, Cassville, MO 65625 or by fax at 417-847-5311. If requesting an absentee ballot by mail, the Office will need: Date of election, name of voter, physical address, mailing address, date of birth, last four (4) digits of Social Security number, phone number, reason for voting absentee (absent from voting location on election day or physical disability), party preference and signature. People may also print an absentee application from and mail it to the Clerk’s Office. The last day to request an absentee ballot to be mailed is July 22 for the Aug. 4 Primary Election. Old Church Gallery Farmers’ Market operating weekly

The Old Church Gallery Farmers’ Market, located on Farm Road 1240 in Shell Knob, runs every Thursday from 8-11 a.m. Fresh produce, eggs, jellies, relishes, baked goods, cut flowers and handmade crafts are available The Market is asking visitors to please follow the health guidelines and wear face coverings and practice six-foot physical distancing while shopping. Seligman dances back on

The Seligman Chamber of Commerce dances at the Seligman Chamber Event Center will continue every Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Seligman Community Event Center. Potluck is also back, so everyone is asked to bring a snack to share. For more information, people may call 417-662-3612.
