County to revise budget

Jill LeCompte, Barry County clerk, announced there will be a revision of the 2020 Barry County budget on Thursday at 10 a.m. during the Barry County Commission meeting. Amendments are needed due to CARES Act funding and for CARES Act Election funding.

ReStore to close for a day

In preparation for Christmas in July, the Habitat for Humanity ReStore will be closed on June 27.

Family Reunion on tap

The Mitchell and Fletcher family reunion will be held on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Monett City Park. All family members are welcome. Please bring a favorite covered dish.

Cassville preschool screening continues Thursday

Preschool, Kinder Academy and kindergarten screening at Cassville Primary School was held Tuesday and will continue on Thursday at Cassville First Baptist Church in the Fellowship Hall. People may call 417-847-2445 to schedule an appointment, available from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Screening is open to children at least 5 years old by July 31 and living in the Cassville District. Parents and guardians should bring proof of residence, a birth certificate and immunization record.

Old Church Gallery Farmers’ Market operating weekly

The Old Church Gallery Farmers’ Market, located on Farm Road 1240 in Shell Knob, runs every Thursday from 8-11 a.m. Fresh produce, eggs, jellies, relishes, baked goods, cut flowers and handmade crafts are available The Market is asking visitors to please follow the health guidelines and wear face coverings and practice six-foot physical distancing while shopping. 5K to be held at TroutFest

The Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce and city of Cassville will host a 5K Trout Trot & Minnow Mile in conjunction with TroutFest on Aug. 15. Pre-registration is available through July 18 to guarantee runners a T-shirt. Pre-registration for the Trout Trot is $15 per runner, and pre-registration price for the Minnow Mile is $10 per runner. “We are excited to have TroutFest this year and are excited to begin the day with a 5K and Mile run.” said Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce director Rachael Freeman. “This race is sponsored by Freedom Bank and we are thankful for their support.” Those looking to register for the event can do so by visiting

Independence Day celebration scheduled in Exeter

The inaugural Exeter Independence Day Celebration will be held July 3, starting at 3 p.m. at the city park. There will be free watermelon, free games and rides provided by the Exeter Corn Maze, live music and food. People may bring chairs to sit and enjoy the festivities.

Purdy Community Picnic and Fireworks show on July 3

The Purdy Community Picnic and Fireworks Show will be held July 3 at The Gathering Place, located at 100 Old Business 37 and Highway C, beginning at 6 p.m. There will be a $5 meal, live entertainment and a firework show at dark.  Please bring lawn chairs and plan to abide by social distancing rules. Seligman July 4 Fireworks on tap

The city of Seligman will celebrate Independence Day on July 4 with music at 7 p.m., provided by Wayne Clevenger and the Flyin Buzzards Bluegrass Band, and with fireworks at dark. The Seligman Chamber of Commerce will also be on hand providing hot dogs and drinks starting at 6 p.m. The city asks people to maintain social distancing practices.

Purdy Alumni Meeting scheduled

The Purdy Alumni Association annual meeting scheduled for June 27 has been canceled due to COVID-19 concerns.

Seligman dances back on

The Seligman Chamber of Commerce dances at the Seligman Chamber Event Center will continue every Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Seligman Community Event Center.
