Tax statements mailed on Monday

Barry County Collector Skyler Bowman has announced that the 2019 Tax Statements were mailed to Barry County taxpayers on Monday. Anyone that does not receive a statement by Nov. 15 should call the collector’s office at 417-847-2113. The 2019 taxes become delinquent on Jan. 1, 2020. Payment can be made in person at the collector’s office with cash, check, debit or credit card. When paying with a debit or credit card the provider of this service will be charging a fee. Also, payment can be made online at, and a fee will be applied when paying in this manner.

Cassville High School hosting Veterans Day assembly

Cassville High School will host its 31st annual Veterans Day assembly on Nov. 11 at 9 a.m. The event will be located in the high school gymnasium and is open to the public. The assembly will include performances from the Cassville mass choir and concert band, a reading of essays written by Cassville students about the meaning of heroes and freedom and a performance by the JROTC demonstrating the Thirteen Folds of the American Flag. Seating for the event will begin at 8:30 a.m. Any veterans that will be in attendance are invited to sign in at the registration table upon arrival so that they can be recognized for their service during the ceremony. At the conclusion of the ceremony, there will be a reception held in the FEMA gym. Pulled pork sandwiches, chips and baked beans will be served for all veterans and their family members. Exeter Veterans Day assembly scheduled

Exeter will be honoring veterans, along with active duty men and women, on Nov. 11 at 1:30 p.m. in the commons area of the school. There will be an honor guard from Scott Tech, music from the choir and the band, special readings and a guest speaker. The district would like to invite all veterans and active duty service men and women.

Wheaton to honor veterans

Wheaton High School Student Council will hist its annual Veterans Day Assembly in the high school gymnasium at 10 a.m. on Monday. Everyone is welcome to attend and honor these great men and women. At 11:30 a.m., the FFA will provide and serve lunch for veterans and their families.

Central Crossing Senior Center hosts garage sale

The Central Crossing Senior Center will host a garage sale on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. People may reserve a table space for $10 to sell their items, inside or outside. Electricity is available. Call 417-858-6952 to reserve a table. Donated items will be accepted Thursday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. No clothing, records, DVDs, VHS tapes or books will be accepted. Vendors may set up from 4-6 p.m. on Friday or 7-8 a.m. on Saturday. There will be a bake sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., and refreshments will be available all day. The Central Crossing Senior Center is located at 20801 Hwy. YY-15 in Shell Knob.

Coats for Kids drive to take place Nov. 16

The Coats for Kids event, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, will be held on Nov. 16 at St. Edwards Catholic Church, located at 17 W. 17th St. Coat sizes are toddler to adult, and parents must accompany children.
