Governor, Lt. Gov to attend Fitzpatrick campaign event

State Treasurer Scott Fitzpatrick will host a Campaign Kickoff event on Nov. 4 at 6 p.m. at Cassville High School, located at 1825 Hwy. Y. Gov. Mike Parson, Lt. Gov. Mike Kehoe, Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft and Speaker of the House Elijah Haahr will be in attendance. Food and refreshments will be provided. Fitzpatrick will speak and officially launch his 2020 campaign for State Treasurer. The event is paid for by Fitzpatrick for Missouri, Danny Buchanan, treasurer.

Cassville High School hosting Veterans Day assembly

Cassville High School will host its 31st annual Veterans Day assembly on Nov. 11 at 9 a.m. The event will be located in the high school gymnasium and is open to the public. The assembly will include performances from the Cassville mass choir and concert band, a reading of essays written by Cassville students about the meaning of heroes and freedom and a performance by the JROTC demonstrating the Thirteen Folds of the American Flag. Seating for the event will begin at 8:30 a.m. Any veterans that will be in attendance are invited to sign in at the registration table upon arrival so that they can be recognized for their service during the ceremony. At the conclusion of the ceremony, there will be a reception held in the FEMA gym. Pulled pork sandwiches, chips and baked beans will be served for all veterans and their family members. Eagle Rock Howl-O-Ween scheduled

The Eagle Rock Library and the Friends of the Library are excited to invite all little ghouls and goblins to the 10th annual Howl-O-Ween Fest on Saturday from 3-6 p.m. There will be fun and games and a costume contest for all ages. Wheaton UMC hosting Harvest Festival

The Wheaton United Methodist Church will host a Fall Harvest Festival, an evening of food, fun and fellowship, on Saturday from 4:30-6:30 p.m. There will be a bake sale and crafts, as well as a full turkey dinner, with beverage and dessert. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children under 12. The church is located at 1012 Santee St. in Wheaton.

Trail of Treats set for Halloween Night

Roaring River Health and Rehab will host its annual Trail of Treats event at the facility from 3:30-5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The facility is asking for candy donations. Anyone able to help may drop off candy at the facility, located at 812 Old Exeter Road in Cassville, any time between now and Thursday.

Central Crossing Senior Center hosts garage sale

The Central Crossing Senior Center will host a garage sale on Nov. 9 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. People may reserve a table space for $10 to sell their items, inside or outside. Electricity is available. Call 417-858-6952 to reserve a table. Donated items will be accepted Nov. 7-8 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. No clothing, records, DVDs, VHS tapes or books will be accepted. Vendors may set up from 4-6 p.m. on Nov. 8 or 7-8 a.m. on Nov. 9. There will be a bake sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., and refreshments will be available all day. The Central Crossing Senior Center is located at 20801 Hwy. YY-15 in Shell Knob.

Blood drive scheduled for Thursday at Southwest

The Southwest High School Student Council, in cooperation with Community Blood Center of the Ozarks, will sponsor a blood drive Thursday. The event will be held at the high school gym from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. All participants are required to have photo identification and will receive a free T-shirt. Absentee voting ongoing

Absentee voting for the Nov. 5, 2019, Special Election is underway at the Barry County Clerk’s Office in Cassville and continues weekdays through Nov. 4, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Nov. 2, from 9 a.m. to noon. If unable to vote in person, a voter may send a written request to the office of: Jill H. LeCompte, 700 Main St. Suite 2, Cassville, MO 65625 or fax to 417-847-5311. The Office will need: name, physical address, mailing address, date of birth, last four digits of Social Security number, phone number, reason for voting absentee and signature. Anyone living in the Shell Knob or Monett area may go by the Shell Knob Chamber or Monett Chamber Office and fill out the absentee application. They will fax it to the Barry County Clerk’s Office. Pumpkin Carving Contest at Southwest Elementary on Thursday

The Southwest High School chapter of National Honor Society will sponsor a Halloween pumpkin carving contest for elementary students through Thursday. Students can bring pumpkins any of the three days and NHS members will select winners in multiple categories around lunch time on Thursday.
