Joe Lee Allen
Joe Lee Allen, 87, of Hot Spring Village, Ark., passed away on September 8, 2019. He was born on July 21, 1932, to Fred and Alta (Holt) Allen in Verona, Missouri.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jack.
On December 29, 1956, Joe united in marriage to Sue (Shewmake) Allen.
Joe graduated from Wheaton, Mo., High School in 1950. He joined the Navy in 1950 and served as radioman on the U.S.S. Cocopa until 1954 during the Korean conflict. In 1957, he graduated from Central Technical Institute in Kansas City, Mo., with a degree in electronics and radio. In 1957, he was employed by Northrop Aircraft, Nortronics Division, working on the Snark and Poseidon missiles.
Joe returned to Wheaton, Mo., in 1970, where he owned and operated a poultry farm. He moved to Hot Springs Village, Ark., in 1995.
Joe was a member of Christ of the Hills United Methodist Church where he spent much time working on various church committees. He volunteered building houses for Habitat for Humanity in Hot Springs for thirteen years.
Loving survivors include: his wife of 62 years, Sue; son, Bradly (Julie) Allen of St Louis, Mo.; daughter, Sandy (Curt) Alford of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; and grandchildren, Heather, Rachel, and Jacob Allen.
Celebration of Life for Joe will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, at Christ of the Hills United Methodist Church. Presiding ministers will be Rev. Sieg Johnson and Rev. Sheila Jones.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ of the Hill UMC, 700 Baeleric Road, Hot Springs Village, AR 71909, and to Garland County Habitat for Humanity, 240 Hobson Ave, Hot Springs, AR 71913.
