Lady Eagles open with victory
Purdy to face rival Pierce City Thursday
The volleyball season got off to a solid start for the Purdy girls on Friday.
The Lady Eagles triumphed over Niangua in straight sets, winning 25-8 and 25-16.
Kinsley Mattingly led the way with 5 kills. Bre Perkins added 13 assists, and Kylie Wood was devastating from the service line, recording a game-high 6 aces.
Purdy also prevailed in the single junior varsity set, 25-20.
Thursday’s game against Pierce City looms large for both Lady Eagles ball clubs, as the winner gets bragging rights in what has become one of the best non-conference rivalries in recent memory.
Matches are set to begin at 6 p.m.
Purdy played East Newton on Tuesday. Results were not available at presstime.
