Francis Joseph “Cass” Cassidy

Francis Joseph “Cass” Cassidy, age 67, of Shell Knob, passed away Friday, Aug. 23, 2019, at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield.

He was born Feb. 25, 1952, in Dallas, Texas, the son of Michael Joseph and Helen (Konec) Cassidy.

On April 20, 1985, in Kansas City, he was united in marriage to Anita “Jeannette” Peery, who survives.

Additional survivors include: two sons, Timothy David Malone and his wife Julie of Shell Knob, and Christopher John Malone and his wife Kelley of Kansas City; one daughter, Elizabeth Joy Reily and her husband Michael of St. Louis; two sisters, Elaine Cassidy of Cameron, and Patricia Slover of Gardner, Kan.; and 12 grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Michael Andrew Cassidy; and one sister, Rose Ann Cassidy.

He graduated from De La Salle High School in Kansas City, and then attended Penn Valley Community College in Kansas City. For 32 years, he was employed as a dye cutter at Tension Envelope in Kansas City. In 2015, he moved to Shell Knob to make his home. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Independence and Eagles Lodge in Shell Knob. Services were held Tuesday, Aug. 27, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Shell Knob, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Shell Knob. Rosary was prior to services. Burial was at McCullough Cemetery in Viola.
