Stones Prairie picnic to offer quilts in drawing

An annual highlight of the picnic at St. Johnís Lutheran Church at Stones Prairie, coming Friday at 6 p.m. on the church grounds, is the drawing for attractive hand made quilts and afghans. Pictured from left are ladies from the church, Lillian Schad, Betty Meier, Mary Schad and Helen Rupp, with the large quilt and afghan for auction. The quilt was pieced by Nancy Kielblock and quilted by the quilting ladies of St. Johnís Lutheran Church Stoneís Prairie, in Purdy, Lutheran Womenís Missionary League. The queen-size quilt (88-by-100 inches) features florals and paisley prints of cream, maroon, pinks, and sages.†The afghan for auction was made by Margaret Rupp. The baby quilt, not pictured, was pieced by Lillian Schad and quilted by the quilting ladies of St. Johnís LWML. The baby quilt features animals in its design. Chances for the quilts will be available at the picnic. There will also be many other quilts and items for sale. Contributed photo
