Friday was the last day for the Purdy branch of the Barry-Lawrence Regional Library. A sale, started Thursday night for Friends of the Library, continued Friday, mostly with books donated to the system for its Pop-Up service. “It’s always hard to see a library close,” said Library Director Gina Milburn. “It’s not an easy decision. We delayed it as long as we could. People said they were sad, but said they understood why. Many said they were going to other branches anyway.” The sale included some furniture. The shelves would be moved to different branches in the now eight-location system. Murray Bishoff/Cassville Democrat
