List of veterans in Exeter Maplewood Cemetery being updated

The Exeter FFA, in conjunction with Maplewood Cemetery Association, is updating the list of veterans buried in Exeter Maplewood Cemetery to place flags on Nov. 9. Anyone who knows of any veterans buried at this location should contact the Exeter FFA at to make sure that they are listed.

Eagles Ladies Auxiliary hosting fundraiser

The Shell Knob Eagles Lodge Ladies Auxiliary will host “Shopping for a Cause” on Nov. 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the lodge on Highway 39 in Shell Knob. Proceeds will benefit His House Foundation and the Alliance of Churches. The event gives an opportunity for people to shop, eat lunch and give back to the community. Library sponsoring Cassville Cash giveaway

People may show their library cards at the Cassville Branch Library circulation desk from Oct. 22-27 and to be put in a drawing for $100 Cassville Cash, compliments of the Cassville Area Friends of the Library. Patrons must be in good standing to be eligible. People may be entered a second time if they check out an item. Residents of Barry or Lawrence County who do not have a library card may get one by showing a photo ID and proof of address. Three winners will be announced Oct. 29.

Cassville Alumni Foundation hosting Chili Supper

The Cassville Alumni Foundation will host a Chili Supper and Time Capsule Review on Friday at 5 p.m. at the JC Duncan Gymnasium. The Time Capsule will be dedicated at 5:30 p.m., and alumni will head to the football game at 6 p.m. Proceeds from the event will benefit CHS Alumni scholarships. The meal is $5 and includes chili, a cinnamon roll and a drink. The event will reveal items to be placed in a 50-year time capsule that will be buried in honor of the school district’s 150th anniversary.

Chili Cook-off, The Show coming to Cassville

The Annual Fall Festival Chili/Salsa Cook-Off will be held on Oct. 27 on the Cassville square starting at 8 a.m. This year’s festival will include the theme of “Halloween Carnival” and the favorite chili/salsa cook-off competition with decorated booths and carnival games, music entertainment, food vendors and various craft booths. The event will add a Halloween Costume Contest for ages 0-10. For more information and deadlines for the contest and/or booth spaces contact the Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce at 417-847-2814. The long-standing music variety show features HomeTown Sound & the RedHots and other local talent. Performances are scheduled for Oct. 25, 27 and 28 with this year’s theme of “Anything Goes.” All performances will be held at the Cassville FEMA building starting Oct. 25 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 27 at 7:30 p.m. A special Sunday matinee will close out the three-day performance beginning at 2 p.m. Tickets are available at the Cassville Chamber of Commerce office, located at 504 Main St. in Cassville. Tickets are also available at all area Cassville banks.

Central Crossing hosting garage sale

On Nov. 10, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Central Crossing Senior Center will host a garage sale for the benefit of the lunch salad bar. People may rent a space with table for $10. The Center has a few rectangular and card tables available for use, as well as many round tables. People may also bring their own tables. People may call 417-858-6952 to rent a space. Some space will be available outside.
