James M. “Jim” Bryant
James M. “Jim” Bryant, Sr., 81, of Cassville, passed away Friday, Aug. 3, 2018, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.
He was born Oct. 26, 1936, in Cassville, the son of Melvin and Mary (Bolton) Bryant. On Oct. 30, 1965, he was united in marriage to Kay Marshall.
Jim grew up and received his education in Cassville, where he graduated from high school. He served in the U.S. Army as a Military Police. He was also a long time businessman in Barry County, owning several businesses, including Jim Bryant Supply Pump Service, a convenience store in Eagle Rock, a pawnshop and he was a landlord of many properties. He also owned Seneca Cigarette. He also served on the Board of Security Bank. He was of the Baptist faith and gave his life to Christ over 60 years ago.
Survivors include: two sons, James Bryant and Joel Bryant and his wife Kristi all of Cassville; his companion of many years, Mary Ann James; one sister, Janice Sims and her husband Robert of Denver, Colo.; and three grandchildren, Mary Kathryn, Jared and Kaylyn Bryant.
Preceding him in death were his parents and one son, Jerry Bryant.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cassville, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Pastor James Weaver will conduct the services.
