Roy Leo Baumgarden

Roy Leo Baumgarden, 66, of Shell Knob, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017, at his home.

He was born May 25, 1951, in Clinton, the son of Estel and Frances (Williams) Baumgarden. On Dec. 10, 1983, in Springfield, he was united in marriage to Judy Marmon, who survives.

Additional survivors include: two sons, Courtland Sawyer and his wife Sarah of Pasadena, Md., and Michael Baumgarden and his wife Samantha of Appleton City; three daughters, Maria Baumgarden of Versailles, Aleta Henry and her fiancÚ Bill Lietz of Shell Knob, and Katrina Ayler of Springfield; three brothers, Rodney Baumgarden of Urich, Daran Baumgarden and his wife Deanna of Butler, and James Huffman and his wife Regina of Garden Grove, Calif.; two sisters, Elizabeth Cullison of Butler, and Robin Burnham of Urich; 22 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Ronald and one sister, Carolyn both in infancy.

He grew up and received his education in Clinton, where he graduated from high school. During the Vietnam War he served in the U.S. Navy. For several years, he was employed as a truck driver for Milky-Way Transport out of Springfield. He was a member of Lohmer Full Gospel Church.

Services were held Saturday at Lohmer Full Gospel Church in Shell Knob. Pastor David Donaldson conducted the services. Burial will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va.

Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Shell Knob.
