Purdy earns 1st championship berth
Lady Eagles down Lincoln in semifinal softball, 3-0
For the first time in school history, the Purdy softball team will play for a state title.
The contest will be on Sunday at high noon against Strafford.
The Lady Eagles (27-1) flew to a 3-0 victory over Lincoln (20-1) on Saturday at Killian Stadium Field in Springfield.
Hallie Henderson threw a no-hitter against the Lady Cardinals, a team that entered the game hitting .507 on the season, struck out 10 hitters and walked zero en route to the victory.
Purdy got on the board in the second inning when Rion Boyd singled, stole third and then scored on a wild pitch.
Insurance runs were added in the fourth frame when Boyd singled and scored on Sami House's two-out single. Boyd crossed the plate on a RBI single by Mikey Schad.
Henderson took it from there.
Purdy and Strafford have met twice this season and split the pair of tilts. First pitch in the title game is set for noon.
