Mary Lou Newman, 93, of Cassville, passed away Friday, May 29, 2015, in Cassville Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born Aug. 5, 1921, in Forsyth, the daughter of Samuel Jesse and Trella Belle (Gard) Wheeler. On July 13, 1939, in Galena, she was united in marriage to Earl Edward Newman, who preceded her in death on Dec. 22, 1984. Also preceding her in death were one son, Ernest Newman; one daughter, Patty Holden; one grandson; one great-grandson; and three brothers, Sam Wheeler, Jack Sharp and Don Wheeler.

Survivors include: three sons, John Newman and his wife, Rose, of Exeter, Don Newman and his wife, Linda, of Cassville, and Ronald "Freck" Newman, of Exeter; four daughters, Marilyn Fortner, of Cape Fair, Earlene Harber and her husband, Bill, of Reeds Spring, Carol Cook and her husband, Lee, of Pierce City, and Pam Clark and her husband, Dale, of Cassville; 18 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.

She grew up and received her education at Forsyth, where she graduated from high school. For several years, she was employed as a machine operator for Jumping Jacks and U.S. Shoes. At age 85 she retired from Walmart after working there 17 years. Funeral services were held Monday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Pastor Doyle Russell conducted the services. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery, Cassville.
