Football Alumni Night set for Friday

Lance Parnell, Cassville head football coach, is excited for Cassville to host its first Cassville Football Alumni Night, which will be Friday at 7 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium. Check-in will be at the north end zone from 5:45-6:15 p.m., and alumni may watch the game from the north end zone, complete with food and drinks. At about 6:35, alumni will be recognized on the field.

Grandparents Open House at Cassville Schools set for Sept. 5

The Cassville School District will host Grandparents Day on Sept. 5, with an Open House from 9-10 a.m. for grades pre-k through 12th. Grandparents will be directed to their grandchildren's classrooms, where they can meet the teacher and grandchildren's classmates. Anyone with questions may call the primary school at 417-847-2445, the intermediate school at 417-847-4010, the middle school at 417-8473137 or the high school at 417-847-3137.

Animal shelter looking to hire employee

Haven of the Ozarks Animal Sanctuary is looking for someone to join a small, elite team of Animal Care Specialists. Anyone interested should be extremely dependable, able to work weekends, able to work outdoors in all weather and able to lift 50 pounds, as well as have had a valid driver's license for six years, and have a deep love and respect for animals. Those interested may apply in person only from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. any day at 9617 Farm Road 2190 in Washburn, just west of Cassville. The Haven asks no one call about the position, but apply in person.

Cassville Branch library taking registrations for preschool story time

The Cassville Branch Library is now taking registrations for the preschool story time sessions, which begin in September. Class sizes are limited, and people may call the library at 417-847-2121 for more information. The library is also showing a movie, "The Amazing Spiderman 2," on Sept. 4 at 6 p.m. The movie is rated PG-13.

Frontier Day set for Sept. 27

The 2nd Annual Frontier Day will be held on Sept. 27 beginning at 10 a.m. Events will include: sorghum cookin', rope-making, apple butter, blacksmithing, Dutch oven cookin', buggy rides, lye soap, live music and kettle corn. The event is free to the public and concessions and restrooms will be available. Frontier Day will be help on Highway 248, seven miles east of Cassville to Farm Road 1157, then left about 3/4 miles, or, west from Highway 39 seven miles on Highway 248 then right on Farm Road 1157. Cassville looks for planning and zoning board members

The city of Cassville is looking for residents to serve on the planning and zoning board, the board of adjustments or any other committee with city. Applications are available at city hall.
