Despite opening round loss, players make their mark

The Purdy Eagles baseball team picked up two postseason awards this week with the release of the all-district team.

Brent Cornman earned a spot on the all-district baseball team for his efforts this season. Jared Lankford sports@cassville-democrat.com

Alex Mareth, earned first team honors, and Brent Cornman was added to the Honorable Mention team.

The complete list is as follows:

First team

Pitchers: Boby Johnson, Miller; and Zach Cook, Crane

Catcher, Ryan Gatton; Crane.

Infield: Jarrod Howard, Crane; Jacob LaSalle, Marionville; Kole Kelley, Pierce City; and Alex Mareth, Purdy.

Outfield: Colton Vaught, Crane; Caleb Shockley, Crane; and Bo Vincent, Pierce City.

Utility: Colton Drollinger, Pierce City.

Second team

Pitcher: Geoffrey Stafford, Marionville; and Richard Doucey, Galena.

Catcher: Colin Garner, Pierce City.

Infield: Mason Moreland, Pierce City; Dylan Hill, Miller; Clay Stumpff, Crane; and Logan Sorrell Galena.

Outfield: Jake Baker, Galena; Trey Hill, Miller; and John LaFevers, Galena.

Utility: Alex Weathermon, Marionville; and Matt Hickman Wheaton.

Honorable Mention

Tyler Johnson, Crane; Jonathon Gregory, Galena; Geren Reavis, Marionville; Jordan Collins, Miller; Mike Vincent, Pierce City; Brent Cornman, Purdy; and Chase Cantwell, Wheaton.
