Trivia Night set for March 7 in Cassville

The Cassville Education Fund will host Trivia Night on March 7 at 7 p.m. in the Cassville High School Commons Area. Team fee is $120 per team, or $15 per person. People may sign up at the Cassville Chamber of Commerce office, or by calling 417-847-2814. All contributions are tax-deductible and benefit the Cassville Education Fund supporting academic programs at Cassville Schools.

Statewide tornado drill postponed

Due to inclement weather affecting much of Missouri, the statewide tornado drill that was scheduled for March 4 was rescheduled for March 6 at 1:30 p.m., according to a press release from Steve Runnels, warning coordination meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Springfield.

CHS Ag Department to host adult class

The Cassville High School Agriculture Department will host its March Adult Agriculture Class on March 10 at 6:30 p.m. in the high school's Agriculture Department classroom. This month's topic is soil fertility in horticulture. The class is free to attend, and a meal will be provided.

Spring Stage Showcase dates set

The Cassville High School Spring Stage Showcase will be March 20 and March 21 in the Fema Building. Cassville High School students will be performing Alky and F.A.U.G.H., by Jerome McDonough, and there will be special performances by the improv troupe, C.I.A., and Mask and Gavel. Doors open at 5:45 p.m. and performances will end around 8:30 p.m. Attendees may stay for the entire evening or just drop by for one show. Admission is $2.

FBC to host 3-on-3 basketball

First Baptist Church in Cassville will host 3-on-3 basketball on Monday nights beginning on March 24 at the Family Life Center, located at 200 E. 5th St. The cost is $30 per team, and registration forms are available at the church's front desk. For more information, call Jeff at 417-846-0003.

Red Cross to host blood drive in Purdy

The American Red Cross will host a blood drive on March 12, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Purdy High School, located at 201 S. 3rd Street in Purdy.

Crowder College to perform "PANIC"

Crowder College will put on the theatre production "PANIC" March 6-8 at 7:30 p.m. nightly, plus a 2 p.m. free matinee on March 8 in the Elsie Plaster Community Center at Crowder College's Neosho campus. Tickets for the nightly productions are $8 general admission, $4 for Crowder staff and students, and $5 for seniors or children 12-and-under. For more information, people may call 417-455-5470.

Pesticide applicator training offered in Cassville

Barry County Pesticide Private Applicator Training will be offered at 1:30 p.m. or at 6 p.m. on March 10 at the Barry County Courthouse commissioners' room in Cassville. The cost is $15 for materials or $3 for those who already own the Missouri Pesticide Applicator Manual (M87) and bring it. Interested individuals should preregister by calling the Barry County Extension Center at 417-847-3161.

Wheaton Schools to screen new kindergartners

Screening for children entering Kindergarten for the 2014-2015 school year in the Wheaton R-3 District is scheduled for March 11-13 in the Kindergarten rooms of the Elementary Building. All students entering kindergarten for the 2014-15 school year must be screened before they can be enrolled. Parents of children who will be five years of age on or before July 31 may call 652-7240, ext. 842 to schedule an appointment. The DIAL III test will be used to screen children in the following areas: concepts, language, and motor development. In addition to the DIAL III, each child's vision, hearing, and articulation will be screened. The screening will take at least one hour to complete. Parents should bring their child's legal birth certificate, Social Security card, immunization record, and proof of residency. Screening results will be shared with the parents at this time.

1st TRIO Dodgeball Tournament

The "1st TRIO Dodgeball Tournament" will be held on May 3 at the Crowder College Neosho Campus Gymnasium and will begin at 10 a.m. There will be free admission and concessions available.
