Billy Edward Maples

Billy Edward Maples, 83, of Shell Knob, passed away Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, in his home, following a long illness.

He was born Dec. 5, 1929, in Belle, the son of Gus and Elsie (Martin) Maples. On Sept. 19, 1953, in Hermann, he was united in marriage to Mutz Baur, who survives.

Additional survivors include: two sons, Bill Maples, of Fort Mill, S.C., and Michael Maples and his wife, Sharon, of Rolla; one daughter, Cindy Marek and her husband, Rick, of Rolla; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one daughter, Chris Maples.

He grew up and received his education at Owensville, where he graduated from high school. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy. For 40 years, he was a conductor for CRI&P (Rock Island Railroad), from which he retired. Twenty-two years, ago he moved from Chicago, Ill., to Shell Knob to make his home.

No services are scheduled at this time. Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob.
