Four-car crash kills one
A four-vehicle crash at 6:30 a.m. on Highway W near Butterfield has left a Wheaton man dead and four others seriously injured.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the crash occurred when the driver of a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer, Jennifer A. Moerer, 34, of Wheaton, was traveling eastbound approximately one-half mile west of Butterfield when the vehicle crossed the center line and struck a 2003 Ford Ranger, driven by Antonio Luna, 73, of Rocky Comfort, head on. The Moerer vehicle then struck a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Amanda D. Walker, 27, of Purdy, causing it to spin out of control and into a 1998 Dodge Durango, driven by Susan Morin, 34, of Butterfield.
A passenger in the Walker vehicle, Lukas W. Walker, 34, of Wheaton, was pronounced dead at the scene by Barry County Assistant Coroner Charles McManus. The body was taken to Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
The injured include Moerer and a passenger in her vehicle, Greyson C. Heatley, 3, of Wheaton. Both were taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Springfield with moderate and minor injuries, respectively.
Amanda Walker, Luna, Nunez and Morin were all airlifted to Springfield hospitals with serious injuries.
This is Troop D's 94th fatality crash for the year.
