Padoua Chang, 72, of Fairview, passed away Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, in Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.

He was born Oct. 5, 1941, in Laos, the son of Scher Pao Chang and Xai Her. In December 1965, in Laos, he was united in marriage to Sao Yang, who survives.

Additional survivors include: six sons, Wang Kou Chang, Paul Chang, Blia Tou Chang, Xeng Chang, Ger Chang and Nhia Chang; five daughters, Ong Chang, Yer Chang, Ka Chang, Youa Chang and Ying Chang; and 50 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three daughters, Doua Chang, Bao Chang and Peng Chang; his parents; one brother, Her Chang, and two sisters, Shoua Chang and Jou Chang.

He served in the U.S. Secret Service during the Vietnam War. In 2005, he moved here from Laos. He was a line production worker for George's in Butterfield. He also farmed.

Funeral services will begin at 8 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 1, in McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton, and continue on Saturday, Nov. 2, Sunday, Nov. 3 and Monday, Nov. 4, also in McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton. Burial will be at 10 a.m., Monday Nov. 4, at Dice Cemetery in Fairview.
