Chamber accepts goody bag donations

The Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce is currently accepting goody bag donations for the upcoming Hillbilly Industrial Golf Tournament, which will be held at the Cassville Golf Course on Aug. 1 and 2. Donations should be submitted to the chamber by July 22.

Les Jacobs to host First Friday Coffee

On Friday, June 7, Les Jacobs Ford in Cassville will host a First Friday Coffee from 8 to 8:45 a.m. This will be the Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce's last First Friday Coffee until September. All area residents are encouraged to attend this networking event.

Haven receives $10,000 donation

Earlier this month, Haven of the Ozarks received a $10,000 award from Liberty Bank through a Facebook charity contest. The funds will be used to purchase flea and tick medication for all dogs and cats housed at the animal sanctuary, which is located off of Highway 112/76/86 between Cassville and Exeter.

Chamber welcomes J&M Pallet

The Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony at J&M Pallet Company, LLC, located at 14367 Farm Road 2150 in Cassville, at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, June 10. All chamber members are invited to attend.

Waste management district to meet

Southwest Missouri Solid Waste Management District N will hold its regularly scheduled executive board meeting at Alice Irene's Restaurant in Marionville at 11:50 a.m. on Tuesday, June 11. The meeting is open to the public.

Seligman man earns degrees from SBU

Brandon Burns, of Seligman, has earned a bachelor of science degree and a bachelor of arts degree from Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar. Burns graduated with summa cum laude honors, which means he maintained at least a 3.85 grade point average.

SBU releases spring honor roll lists

Southwest Baptist University has released its 2013 spring semester honor roll. Local students who achieved the trustee's list were: Brandon Burns, of Seligman; and Rachael Neill, of Purdy. In order to earn a place on the trustee's list, students must carry at least 12 hours of college work and earn at least a 3.85 grade point average with no grade below a C during the semester.

Cassville Cruisers to host cruise-in

The Cassville Cruisers car club will hold its monthly "Cruise-In" from 5 p.m until dark this Saturday, June 8 at the Barry County Museum, south of Cassville on Highway 112. Concessions will be provided by Habitat for Humanity. This month's theme is "Jammin' in June." Area residents are invited to bring their instruments for a "jam" session while enjoying classic cars.

SK student honored for academics

Ciera Brinton, of Shell Knob, has been named to the spring 2013 Academic Achievement List at Central Methodist University in Fayette. Brinton achieved a perfect 4.0 grade point average last semester.

Summer reading program to begin

Singing storyteller Judy Domeny Bowen will kick-off the summer reading program for the Cassville Branch Library at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 6. On Friday, June 7, the Cassville Library will host the movie, "Babe: Pig in the City" at 4 p.m. Teens are invited to the local library at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11 for the Choices program, presented by the Cassville Rotary Club. This will be the first activity for the teen summer reading program.

Golden Harvest meeting planned

The Golden Harvest Club will hold its June meeting at noon on Tuesday, June 11 at the Barry County Museum in Cassville. The meeting will be catered by C & C Country Store of Exeter.

Mineral Springs Road District to meet

The Mineral Springs Road District will meet in regular session at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 13 at the district road barn. Meetings are open to the public.

Rummage sale planned at Crowder

The Level 1 Crowder College nursing students will hold a two-day rummage sale from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, June 7 and Saturday, June 8 at the Crowder College Community Building in Cassville. All money raised and donations will go toward the 2014 nursing students' graduation.
