Steve Jessie Martin, 88, of Seligman, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2013, in Red Rose Health and Rehabilitation Center, Cassville.

He was born Nov. 3, 1924, in Compton, Ark., the son of William H. and Belle Louise (Sims) Martin. On Sept. 5, 1948, in Hot Springs, S.D., he was united in marriage to Ora Martin who preceded him in death on April 9, 2004. Also preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors include: two sons, Joe Martin and his wife, Judy, of Lowell, Ark., and Grover Martin, of Rogers, Ark.; one daughter, Evelyn Cron and her husband, Benny, of Seligman; one sister, Bonnie Sims, of Springdale, Ark.; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great- grandchildren.

He grew up and received his education in Arkansas. For several years, he worked in the saw mills and as a farmer with his parents. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army as a medic. Twenty years ago, he moved from Siloam Springs, Ark., to Seligman, to make his home.

Funeral services were today (Wednesday) in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Pastor Doyle Russell conducted the services. Burial was at Bayless Cemetery, Garfield, Ark.
