OMMC sponsors poker run for those in need
The Ozark Mountain Motorcycle Club (OMMC) will host the "Cruising for a Cause" poker run, with registration getting underway at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 27 at the Irwin-Easley American Legion Post #118 in Cassville.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit David Ruark, a Barry County Deputy, who sustained a major back injury last year.
Ruark, who has served as a Barry County deputy for several years, was injured while operating his lawn maintenance business, which helps support his large family. He is currently being treated for six herniated spinal discs.
Additional proceeds from the fundraiser will be dedicated to helping other community members who are in need of medical assistance.
The 100-mile ride gets underway at approximately 9 a.m. with riders and motorists eventually returning to the American Legion Hall at around 2 p.m.
The afternoon's events will include an auction, games, entertainment and a dinner.
"People don't have to own a motorcycle to participate," said Edgar McCarter, event organizer. "We welcome anyone from the community to join us in this event."
OMMC is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping individuals in need.
