Bobby Ruth Showalter, 82, of Golden, passed away Friday, March 15, 2013, in her home.

She was born July 24, 1930, in Newton County the daughter of William Henry and Elizabeth (Loving) Stockton. On Aug. 22, 1948, in Ritchey, she was united in marriage to Doyle "Ray" Showalter, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her parents, her younger son, Bobby Lynn Showalter; one brother; and one sister.

Survivors include: one son, Allan Showalter and his wife, Penny, of Durham, N.C.; and two grandchildren.

She grew up in Granby, graduating from Granby High School and volunteering at Granby Hospital. She received her associate's degree from Joplin Business College. For 30 years, she was responsible for the administrative aspect of the family auto sales business and was also employed as a clerk by the Joplin Auto Auction. She was a long-time resident of Diamond, moving to Joplin for a short period before retiring to Golden. She was a member of All Faith United Methodist Church in Eagle Rock and served as a hospice volunteer.

Services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob. Pastor Karen Tutak will conduct the services. Burial will be at a later date in Diamond Cemetery.
