Wednesday, March 20, 2013

The Cassville High School Wildcat baseball team will hold its fourth annual 50-inning game on Saturday, March 23 at the CHS baseball field. The fundraiser will begin at 10 a.m.

"We are excited about this fourth annual 50-inning game," said Cassville coach Kyle Wood. "It gives a chance to get our entire baseball family (coaches, players, parents) together and enjoy a day of lighthearted play."

All Wildcat players, including freshmen, junior varsity and varsity, will be divided into five teams. The game will continue until 50 innings have been completed.

"The boys always enjoy finding out what team they are a part of, and there are always surprises on what teams will be the best," said Wood. "I enjoy watching our seniors take a leadership role throughout the day as they try to set up the best batting order and get everyone in the best position for their teams to be successful. I get to sit back, watch and enjoy the game of baseball."

Hot barbecued sandwich lunches with chips, a cookie and a drink will be offered throughout the day. Meals will cost $5 each. The concession stand will also be open during the event.

"We invite the community to come out and support the high school baseball team," said coach Kyle Wood. "All money raised goes directly back to the team for equipment needs."

The event will also feature a drawing for several baskets, gifts, and gift cards. Tickets for the drawing are $1 each or six tickets can be purchased for $5. Individuals can also buy 15 tickets at a cost of $10.

Tickets for the drawing will be sold at all home baseball games held prior to the 50-inning game. Community members do not need to be present at the 50-inning game to win a prize.

All proceeds from the 50-inning game will benefit the Cassville High School baseball team. This is the only fundraiser the CHS baseball team conducts each year.

The following businesses donated items for the drawing or helped sponsor the event: Fastrip; Sports World; The Pink Zebra; Urban Edge Salon; FASCO; the Cassville Golf Course; Sater Pharmacy; Carey's Cassville Florist; Whitley Pharmacy; Jackson's Pump Service; Mercy Hospital Cassville; BBQ Station; Cassville Walmart; Cassville Pizza Hut; Casey's General Store; Geraldi's; John Sullivan; Chuck Sparks; and Todd and Reagan Stringer.
