Casey's General Store robbed during early hours

Monett was the scene of an armed robbery early Monday morning. The Monett Police Department received a 911 call reporting the robbery at Casey's General Store, located at 728 Highway 60 in Monett at 6:18 a.m. on Sept. 10.

The clerk reported that a tall white male subject, wearing a dark mask, entered the store displaying a knife and demanding money. The subject left the store with an undetermined amount of cash.

The clerk described the subject as a 20-to-30-year-old male wearing a red T-shirt, blue jeans and white athletic shoes. The subject fled the scene heading westbound on a bicycle, which he quickly discarded. He continued westbound on foot running through a field.

Barry and Newton counties and Missouri State Highway Patrol officers assisted with the search for the suspect, but officers were unable to apprehend the suspect.
