Eugene Joe Williams, 87, of Marionville, formerly of Verona, passed away Friday, June 22, 2012 at the Ozarks Methodist Manor in Marionville. He was born June 26, 1924, in Barry County, the son of Herbert and Jewel Glenn (Thomas) Williams.

He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a cattle rancher. He and his brother, Tom, owned Williams Brothers Construction for 30 years. He lived in the Verona and Aurora area until moving to Marionville in 2002.

He served on the Verona School Board for 22 years. He was a member of the Missouri Cattlemen's Association, where he served as secretary for 17 years. He was also on the board for the University of Missouri, a board member of MFA, a charter member of the Verona Lions Club, chairman of the Spring River Cemetery board, a volunteer at the Methodist Manor and a member of the Verona Baptist Church.

Survivors include: his wife of 67 years, Ylene; three sons, Gale and his wife, Sherri, of St. Joseph, Alan and his wife, Cheryl, of Gardner, Kan., and David Lynn and his wife, Vicki, of Battlefield; one daughter, Sue Doss, and her husband, Dennis; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Roy, of Springfield, Thomas, of Aurora, Charles, of Sunrise Beach, and Martin, of Unionville; five sisters, Evalina Shippee, of Montana, Elsa Manes, of Springfield, and Rebekah Miller, Willodean Vaught, and Glenna Edmondson, all of Cassville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two baby sisters, one brother, Harold, and one son, Gary.

Funeral services were held June 27 at the Verona Baptist Church. Burial followed at Spring River Cemetery.

Service arrangements were under direction of Crafton-Cantwell Funeral Home, Aurora.
