Nearly a dozen file for county offices

Nearly a dozen candidates filed for the August primary election on Tuesday. Although the Democratic ticket only attracted one candidate, 10 candidates signed up to run on the Republican ticket.

Incumbents Sherry Sears, county assessor, and Jim Fohn, county coroner, have filed for new four-year terms.

Wayne Hendrix, southern county commissioner, also filed for re-election. Hendrix is the only Democrat who has announced candidacy.

Sheriff Mick Epperly will face off against challenger David Bowman, of Exeter, in the upcoming primary election.

The northern county commissioner and public administrator positions have also attracted multiple candidates.

Eddie Dummit, of Verona, will face off against Gary Schad and David Redshaw, both of Purdy, in the upcoming northern commissioner race.

Stormy Holtzman, of Cassville, and Pam Modlin, of Wheaton, have announced candidacy for the public administrator position.

Filing for county offices opened on Tuesday. The deadline to file for a county office is March 27. The primary election will be held on Aug. 7. The general election will be held on Nov. 6.
