Cassville SB approves 2011 summer school application

The Cassville R-4 School Board approved the 2011 summer school application at its regularly scheduled meeting on April 14. The district will offer a full summer school program for all grade levels.

The summer session will be held from Wednesday, June 1 to Friday, June 24. Students will attend the program from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

"We will offer breakfast and lunch free to all students," said Superintendent Richard Asbill. "We will also have limited transportation routes."

Breakfast will be served from 7 to 7:30 a.m.

Parents interested in learning more about the summer school program are asked to contact their child's principal.

The board also accepted the resignation of Kathryn McKlintic, high school math teacher, and hired Jennifer Nichols, high school physical education and health teacher, Daniel Powers, high school physical education, health and in-school suspension teacher, and Lou Ann Haney, substitute teacher.

In other business, the Cassville R-4 School Board:

* Heard presentations on the vocational and curriculum programs.

* Tabled a discussion on employee health insurance.

* Heard administrative reports.

* Discussed future capital projects.

* Heard reports from the salary board study committee.

*Elected the following officers: John Sullivan, president; Greg Allen, vice president; Becky Henningson, treasurer; and Lorie Speakman, secretary.
