Wheaton Fire Department gets new truck

Democrat Photo The Wheaton Fire Department received a new brush truck through a 2009 Federal Emergency Management Agency Assistnce to Firefighters Grant for vehicle acquisition. The new 2009 heavy duty Dodge Ram 5500 was made by Watts Welding and Manufacturing, of Brookfield, Kan., and was delivered on Monday. Cost of the vehicle was $134,500, with the department having to match 5 percent of the total. Volunteer firefighters turning out to admire the department's newest acquisition are pictured above.
