Alice Marie Snyder, 89, of Cassville, passed away Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, in Cedar Ridge Care Center, Cassville.

She was born April 11, 1920, in Goodyear, Conn., the daughter of Martin and Henrietta (Gischard) Kwasnoi. On Feb. 12, 1942, in Louisiana, she was united in marriage to Edward Snyder, who preceded her in death in September, 1991. Also preceding her in death were her parents and a son in-law, Richard Schacht.

Survivors include: one daughter, Sharon Schacht, of Cassville; one brother Martin Kaye Kwasnoi and his wife, Nancy, of Houston, Texas; one sister, Blanche Breen, of Rutherford, N.J.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She grew up and received her education in Rutherford, N.J., where she graduated from high school. She resided in Joplin several years, where she was a homemaker. Two months ago, she moved from Joplin to Cassville to be closer to her daughter. She was a member of Forest Park Baptist Church in Joplin. At the age of 81, she traveled to ground zero after 911.

Memorial services were held at 5 p.m. today (Wednesday) First Baptist Church, Cassville. Rev. James Weaver conducted the services.

Cremation arrangements were under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
