Marion Max Bishop, 71, formerly of Seligman, passed away on Friday, Sept. 11, 2009, at his home in Cassville. He was born on Jan. 30, 1938, in Seligman, son of Eugene Bishop and Pauline McCormick. He was a life- long resident of Barry County, growing up and attending school in Seligman. After graduating high school, he worked various jobs around the Seligman community until he was drafted into the United States Army on Feb. 6, 1956. Before being honorably discharged, he served one combat tour in Vietnam. On April 8, 1996, he was united in marriage to Linda Fay Rolland in Eureka Springs, Ark. He was a member of the Victory Baptist Church in Cassville.

Survivors include: his wife, Linda Bishop, of Cassville; two stepsons, Russell New, of Seligman, and Jeffery New, of Fayetteville, Ark.; one stepdaughter, Lindalla Green, of Bentonville, Ark.; four grandchildren; and one sister, Raye Christense, of Aberdeen, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Bishop; his mother, Pauline Corn; and one brother, Lacey Bishop.

Graveside services were held on Monday at the Seligman Cemetery in Seligman with Rev. Russell Bishop officiating. Military honors were conducted by the National Guard Juliet Team, of Joplin.
