Cumie Fern (Cutbirth) Cowin, 92, of Theodosia, passed away Feb. 19, 2009. She was born in Ocie on April 11, 1916, the daughter of Alfred and Hettie (Harless) Cutbirth. She was one of nine siblings. At the age of 10, she became a member of the Salem General Baptist Church.

She was united in marriage to henry Thomas Cowin on March 7, 1940. The couple had three children, Evadene, Dennis and Weldon. She was a homemaker.

she had spent the past several years living with her daughter, Evadene and her husband, William Vance, in Cassville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, two sons, Dennis and Weldon, three brothers and four sisters.

Survivors include: one daughter, Evadene, and her husband, William Vance, of Cassville; one brother, Gene Cutbirth and his wife, Erlene, of Spokane; a daughter-in-law, Judy (Cowin) Evans, of Gainesville; six grand-children; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great- great-grandchildren.
