Dorothy Grace Cantrell, 87, of Monett, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2008. She was born March 16, 1921, near Exeter, the daughter of Elzie Henry and Anna Lora (Haddock) Cassity. She married William Darell Cantrell Oct. 24, 1937, at Exeter, and he preceded her in death March 29, 1981.

She was a lifelong area resident moving to Monett from Wheaton in 1957. She was a member of the Monett First Baptist Church, the Philathea Sunday school class and was retired from Wal-Mart. She has been a resident of Peachwood Manor Assisted Living in Cassville for the past four years.

Survivors include: one son, James Edward Cantrell, and his wife, Linda, of Springfield; one daughter, Dorothy Bernadine Hobson, and her husband, Doug, of Monett; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Rev. Frank Cassity, and his wife, Dora, of Billings, Mont., and al Cassity, and his wife, Margie, of Purdy; two sisters, Cora Moore, of Exeter, and Virgie Brattin, of Petaluma, Calif.; and one sister-in-law, Rozella Decocq, of Cassville.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Rhoma and Loren Cassity; and three sisters, Mamie Brattin, Luella Scott, and Bertha Moore.

Funeral services were held Monday at Buchanan Funeral Home in Monett with Dr. Bill Cox officiating. Burial was at the IOOF Cemetery in Monett.

Arrangements were under the direction of Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett.
