Walter B. Pedelty Jr., 88, of Cassville, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2008, at his home in Cassville.

He was born on April 11, 1919, in Mason City, Iowa, son of Walter B. and Hazel (Hill) Pedelty. He was united in marriage on April 11, 1942, in Nevada, to his wife, Pauline, who preceded him in death five years ago.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during World War II. He enlisted immediately upon graduation from high school and served four years on the USS Tern. Following his discharge, he worked for his uncle driving a produce truck in California. He was drafted back into the Navy and was a plank holder on the USS Porterfield, which was launched on June 13, 1943. He was discharged again and was employed as the fleet manager for Winnebago Industries in Forest City, Iowa. He and his wife, Pauline, retired 28 years ago and came to Cassville to make their home.

Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) at the White Funeral Home in Cassville, with Rev. Bert Ward officiating.
